Dry Eye Syndrome

Cliradex®

Cliradex® is a natural, preservative-free lid, lash and facial cleanser that helps manage symptoms associated with blepharitis, meibomian gland dysfunction (MGD), rosacea, dry eye, demodex, chalazia and other lid margin diseases. Unlike traditional cleansers derived from man-made chemicals, Cliradex® is a natural way to keep your eyelids and skin clean, comfortable and healthy.

Natural Healing, Effective Treatment

The proprietary, natural formulation in Cliradex® is safe for everyday use as part of a daily ocular hygiene regimen. Cliradex® is a moist towelette and is derived from key constituents of Melaleuca Alternifolia, a special variety of tea tree oil. Cliradex® is the only commercially available product that isolates 4-Terpineol, the most important ingredient found in tea tree oil.8-14

Isolating 4-Terpineol for Increased Efficacy

Tea tree oil (TTO), the essential oil derived from the native plant, Melaleuca alternifolia, is characterized by 15 major components.9,15 Scientific studies have shown that 4-Terpineol, or Terpinen-4-ol (T4O), is the most important ingredient found in TTO8,9 with even greater miticidal effects than TTO itself. This is because some of TTO’s ingredients are ineffective and their relationship is antagonistic, meaning the efficacy of one component is cancelled out by the presence of another component.8

Symptom Management

For optimal eye and skin health, Cliradex® helps manage symptoms associated with a number of conditions including:

Dry Eye - there are many factors that contribute to dry eye syndrome. Symptoms can be caused by varying conditions. Ocular hygiene is often recommended for people suffering from dry eyes. Conjunctivochalasis can be a contributing factor in dry eye.

Blepharitis - a swelling or inflammation of the eyelids, usually where the eyelash hair follicles are located. Meibomian gland dysfunction (MGD) - is the most common form of lid margin disease and can cause or exacerbate dry eye symptoms and eyelid inflammation.

Rosacea - is a complex skin condition marked by facial redness, inflammation, and dilated blood vessels. It can contribute to ocular rosacea and dry eye and has been linked to demodex.

Demodex - species of human mites living on the eyelid, in or around the lash follicles. There are two types of mites: folliculorum, which are found in the hair follicle; and brevis, which live in the glands.

Chalazia - a cyst in the eyelid frequently caused by a blocked meibomian gland. Other lid margin diseases...
